Runway of the Realms: Cosplay Competition Fashion Show
Runway of the Realms is an exciting fashion show competition celebrating craftsman cosplay, inspired by "Project Runway." This event showcases the creativity, skill, and dedication of cosplayers who craft their costumes predominantly by hand. Featuring three tiers of competition - Novice, Journeyman, and Master - contestants are challenged to create cosplay outfits with at least 80% DIY components and showcase their creations on the runway.

1. Novice - "Realm Initiate"

3. Master - "Realm Master"
General Rules
  • All contestants must have a valid ticket
  • One entry per person per group
  • Costumes must be movable by a single person
  • Contestants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • Previously awarded costumes cannot reenter
  • Groups enter based on most senior member
  • Costumes must be made.
  • Shoes, undergarments, and wigs don't count against percentages
  • Neon elements encouraged in cosplay
Division Requirements
Realm Initiate (Novice)
50% of the costume must be made or altered by the contestant. Open to contestants who have never entered or won a "Best in" category award.
Realm Artisan (Journeyman)
70% of the costume must be made or altered by the contestant. Open to contestants who have won 3 or fewer "Best in" category awards that are not Best in Show. Must provide a build book.
Realm Master (Master)
90% of the costume must be made or altered by the contestant. Open to contestants who have won more than 3 "Best in" category awards or have won Best in Show. Contestants who are professionals in craft-based careers and make income from these crafts. Must provide a build book
Prejudging and Build Books

Prejudging Session
All contestants must be in full costume at the prejudging session. Contestants will have approximately three (3) minutes for their prejudging session. Prejudging is not open to the public. Costumes must be finished before prejudging; no additional components can be added or modified afterward, except for unexpected repairs.

Build Books
Build books are required for Realm Artisans and Realm Masters; encouraged for Realm Initiates. They should contain the following sections: Reference Images, List of Materials, and Progress Photos. These books help judges see the contestant's progress and craftsmanship.
Mainstage Rules and Video Submission Requirements

Mainstage Rules
  • Be careful onstage.
  • No dangerous running or horseplay.
  • Costumes cannot be offensive or vulgar.
  • Stunts must be approved by the director before the stage performance.
  • No live animals, substances that might damage or soil, aerosol sprays, projectiles, or pyrotechnics.
  • Prop weapons are allowed with restrictions and must be handled responsibly.
  • Entries with electric power requirements need to be self-contained.

Video Submission Requirements
  • High-quality video showcasing the cosplay in detail.
  • Introduction of the contestant and their cosplay character.
  • Explanation of the DIY process and materials used.
  • Performance of the cosplay in action, highlighting neon elements.

Contestants' Responsibilities
  • Pre-register and check in 30 minutes before the start of the show
  • Attend prejudging in full costume
  • Abide by all rules and regulations
  • Ensure costumes are appropriate for a family-friendly audience (PG-13)
Judges' Rules and Requirements

Judges reserve the right to reclassify contestants to maintain fair competition.

Abstain from judging contestants with whom they have direct personal relationships.

Marketing, Promotion, and Additional Elements
Social Media Engagement
  • Create engaging social media content highlighting the event and its unique aspects.

  • Develop promotional materials showcasing previous winners, judges, and special guests.
  • Engage with the cosplay community through interactive posts, contests, and sneak peeks.
Neon Theme
Contestants are encouraged to incorporate neon elements into their cosplay to align with the event's theme.

Ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants and attendees.
